A home entertainment system which is capable of both audio and visual playback generally consists of a large projected
image, whether this is on a flat screen TV or using a projector and a screen, while the audio is set up to create the
feeling of surround sound and low frequency subwoofers.
Home theatres became the new big hype on the market a few years ago with the emergence of TV/DVD Systems which came with
a multitude of various speakers as well as a subwoofer, to create a "surround-sound" experience at home. Home theatre systems
did exist before that, but were somewhat primitive in their approach and very costly. There were also very
expensive systems using front projectors in a darkened room.
With rapid technological advances, these entry level ideas are now obsolete with far greater achievements being available to the consumer.
